While having to undergo heavy cancer treatments, Senator John McCain told reporters that he is committed to working on accepting a bipartisan amendment that would prevent Trump from banning transgender persons from the military.
Huffington Post journalist Jennifer Bendery tweets:
Asked McCain if he’ll accept amendment to NDAA to block Trump’s transgender troop ban: “We’re working on it. We’ve been talking for days.”

v The amendment is a bipartisan effort by Sens. Gillibrand (D-NY) and Collins (R-ME) to stop Trump from implementing his bigoted ban. McCain, like most of the Senate, opposes the ban, and if he gets the amendment added to the final bill, it will almost certainly pass in the Senate.
McCain is certainly leaving a legacy for himself as he battles through a rough disease. Since these efforts will essentially be another defeat for Trump, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out in the upcoming weeks.
