New American Citizen Just Got POTUS Welcome Message; Still Obama’s Letter And Signature (IMAGES)

News

It can easily be said that having Donald Trump as *president is a pathetic joke in and of itself. However, in what can be seen as an actual joke is how government functions, or rather, doesn’t function under Trump.

When a person becomes a citizen of the United States from another country, they go through quite a process to get that title. Upon completion of the required actions to become a citizen, they receive a letter from the president welcoming them to their new home. With Trump as president, one could assume that this letter would be coming from him. But no. The pure dysfunction of the Trump administration has failed to replace former President Obama’s letter with one of his own.

Pointing out this remarkable error is columnist Aisha Sultan whose husband just become a citizen of the United States. She tweeted out the welcome letter her husband received.

Here’s Sultan’s tweet showing the letter:

“My British-born husband takes his oath of citizenship today. In the packet for new Americans, the welcome letter from POTUS is from Obama. 😂

Now, the easy joke is pointing out how Trump is an isolationist who wouldn’t embrace any new citizen, even though most of his brides are immigrants themselves. However, the bigger joke is Trump himself and the obvious lack of integrity he offers to the office of the presidency.

This is a pretty big and obvious oversight that should probably be remedied sooner rather than later. However, in the mean time, we can still bask in the glow of an admirable president, President Barack Obama, and pretend he’s still in office.
