The nation marched for them on Saturday. The IRS is being sued for them. Still, unlike his modern predecessors, Donald Trump refuses to release his tax returns. During his daily press briefing, Press Secretary Sean Spicer was asked more than one question about Trump’s taxes and not surprisingly, he recycled lies from the campaign. This time, though, the internet didn’t let him get away with it.
The question came up a couple of times during Monday’s press briefing. Spicer was asked by a reporter about the alleged audit that allegedly kept our alleged President from releasing his alleged tax returns. Spicer insisted that yes, Trump’s tax returns were being audited and that absolutely nothing about that has changed.
Trump has been “very very clear,” according to Spicer, about his taxes.
Here’s the video:

In Spicey’s defense, Trump was very clear about his tax returns — clear that he would release them.
Another reporter was far blunter, asking if Trump was ever going to release his tax returns. Spicer’s answer was, “I’ll get back to you on that.”
Reporter: Is it time to say Trump is never going to release his tax returns?

The internet is buying none of it:
@ABC if you're not going to release them just say it. Why lie? It makes no damn sense.

@ABC Kelly Ann already let it slip that the audit excuse was bullshit. You can come up with something better than that, Sean.

@ABC Excuses. Warren Buffet, a real billionaire, was under audit yet still released his taxes. Stop stalling and lying.

@ABC No one believes this anymore. I wish they would stop lying! The people DO want to see his taxes! His 2016 taxes cannot be under audit.

@ABC The never ending audit. A story for children.

@ABC I wasn't aware that you could be under audit for the entirety of your existence. was he under audit before he actually had a job?

There are a lot of reasons Trump might not want to release his tax returns, but you can bet that the contents won’t make him look good. Perhaps he’s really not a billionaire, as his brand requires. Perhaps he took a bunch of illegal deductions, or, perhaps he took illegal loans that he’s paying back by being a puppet of the Russian government.
