On Thursday, President Donald Trump made a very disturbing comment when describing an overseas military operation.
The comments surfaced when a White House press pool reporter asked Trump if he himself was personally responsible for the deployment of the 21,000-pound bomb ( the largest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan) that was dropped on an ISIS tunnel complex.
“Everybody knows exactly what happened. What I do is I authorize my military.”
“We have the greatest military in the world and they’ve done a job as usual. So we have given them total authorization.”
The phrase “my military” didn’t sit well with a lot of people. Even members of the defense team did not appreciate Trump’s choice of words. Among them was Leon Panetta, a former defense secretary and CIA director who served under President Barack Obama. Panetta recently called out Trump on his passive aggressive and egotistical statement.
On MSNBC’s segment of “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” Panetta replied with :
“When it comes to the military, the military belongs to the country. Our defense system belongs to the country. And it’s not the president’s military, it’s the military of the United States of America.”
“He has responsibility obviously, as commander in chief, to be able to make decisions with regards to our military. But I think if you ask the men and women in uniform who they are responsible to, I think their answer would be, ‘We’re responsible to the United States of America.'”
Of course, the internet would have to agree with the former Obama defense secretary, as they continued to bash Trump for his possessive pronoun. Check this out:
.@realDonaldTrump: “I authorized MY military …” MY? You refused to serve in the military or pay tax to support it … it’s not yours!

Donald Trump said “I authorize my military.” Any school kid knows it’s not his military. It’s ours.

Indeed, it is OUR military, it is not Trump’s personal toy that he can have fun with. The liar-in-chief has no right to call it his when he has done nothing but put our country in harm. Our sacred military will NEVER be his. Period.
