Throughout the years, the White House Easter Egg Roll has been an event that showcases the administration’s work ethic thus far–and by the looks of it, Trump’s swamp has none.
Easter event organizer behind President Bill Clinton administration, Melinda Bates told The New York Times that the 138 year-old Easter Sunday tradition is “the single most high-profile event that takes place at the White House each year, and the White House and the first lady are judged on how well they put it on.” From her perspective, the outcome of the event is an indication of how the Trump administration works as a unit.
Wells Wood Turning, the company that supplies wooden eggs for the event, directly tweeted Trump’s family, including the First Lady, warning them of an important deadline they were about to miss:

After constant reminders, Trump eventually ordered the Easter eggs. The important thing to remember here is that the public schools in the Washington area have heard absolutely nothing from the White House, even though they are typically allocated up 4,000 tickets for children and military families.
“Unfortunately, the Trump administration has not reached out about it,” Ashley Broadway-Mack, the president of the American Military Partner Association told the Times. In addition, Congress members have also not been contacted about tickets for their constituents.
So, who is responsible for this disastrous delay?
Much of the slow planning seems to fall on the absence of FLOTUS Melania Trump, who isn’t even living in Washington. The first lady, who lives in New York, has not enacted a full-staff for the East Wing, and such members have typically been responsible for organizing and planning the Easter celebration. The Times reported:
She named a chief of staff and social secretary in early February but has yet to announce a director for the Visitors Office, normally the crucial player in the daunting execution of the event.”
This just shows how unprepared, unequipped Trump’s family/administration is. President Obama and First Lady Michelle would have this event orchestrated perfectly, as they have done so in the past.
