Today, FBI Director James Comey is to deliver his testimony to the House Intelligence Committee, perhaps finally putting an end to Trump’s ridiculous lies about wiretapping. Comey is expected to expose Trump and state that there is no evidence for those claims, and judging by Trump’s Twitter timeline this morning, he’s freaking out about it.
It’s only been a few weeks since Trump accused former President Barack Obama of wiretapping his phones in Trump Tower ahead of the presidential election – but everything feels like far longer in a Trump presidency. He’s continued to make these claims, despite the fact that he wasn’t even able to produce evidence when the Justice Department asked him to last week. Now, hours ahead of Comey’s hearing, Trump had a major Twitter meltdown this morning and went off on an unhinged rant about just about…everything!
Starting at almost 3:30 am and tweeting erratically for the next few hours, Trump tried his best to divert America’s attention away from the hearing and his wiretapping lies with a series of psychotic tweets:
“What about all of the contact with the Clinton campaign and the Russians? Also, is it true that the DNC would not let the FBI in to look?
Just heard Fake News CNN is doing polls again despite the fact that their election polls were a WAY OFF disaster. Much higher ratings at Fox.
The real story that Congress, the FBI and all others should be looking into is the leaking of Classified information. Must find leaker now!
James Clapper and others stated that there is no evidence Potus colluded with Russia. This story is FAKE NEWS and everyone knows it!
The Democrats made up and pushed the Russian story as an excuse for running a terrible campaign. Big advantage in Electoral College & lost!”
Trump has every reason to be nervous. This hearing might also shed some light on Russia’s involvement in the election, and Trump’s relationship with the nation. Today should certainly be interesting, and you can be sure Trump will come unhinged again.
