  • Famous Russian Perfectly Explains What’s Happening In Trump White House Right Now

    News, Politics

Russian chess player Garry Kasparov knows a thing or two about corruption. He also knows a thing or two about Vladimir Putin. After retiring from chess, he dedicated part of his life to fighting Putin in his homeland but was driven from his country in 2013 has no doubt that Trump is tied to Putin and that Putin helped steal the 2016 election. On Monday, in a tweet, Kasparov perfectly summed up the current hearings on Russian hacks.

The house is on fire, Trump is running around with a box of matches, and the GOP demands to know who called the fire department.

If you haven’t been following the hearings with FBI Director James Comey, you should, but Republicans seem to have all received their marching orders, which were to obfuscate and blame the leakers. In other words, attack the messengers.

Rep. Trey Gowdy even went further and tried to pin the leaks on President Obama.

“I’ll just ask you, did you brief President Obama on any calls involving Michael Flynn?” Gowdy asked. He was referring specifically to leaked information regarding a phone call between Flynn, President Trump’s former national security adviser, and the ambassador to Russia during the transition. The reports showed that Flynn had discussed sanctions and the discovery ultimately led to his resignation.

But Obama wasn’t the only one. Gowdy also rattled down a list of people who had held high-ranking positions in the Obama administration and asked whether each would have had access to the “unmasked” name. He included former director of national intelligence James Clapper, former CIA director John Brennan, former national security adviser Susan Rice, former White House adviser Ben Rhodes, former attorney general Loretta Lynch and former deputy attorney general Sally Yates.

Comey refused to answer the question, but is this where we are today? Has the Trump administration made us so immune to corruption that it’s the leakers and whistleblowers who are now the criminals?

It’s doubtful that it was Obama who leaked information, but perhaps he should have. Perhaps if he (or whoever) had leaked information in September or October instead of after Trump took office, we would not have a Russian installed administration today.

Trump appears to be in deep with Russia. Politico developed a handy/dandy chart that shows exactly how. As Kasparov knows, that’s particularly disturbing. Putin’s goal is to tear apart NATO so he can continue his occupation of foreign countries without interference. Trump, probably not coincidentally, seems set to let him do just that. Trump is willing to put our national security at risk to appease Russia and Republicans find no problem with that. They only find problems with the people who call Trump and the Russians out.
