President-elect Donald Trump will take the oath of office very soon and he’ll become the 45th president of the United States. There are people in the country who feel that Trump shouldn’t be president for many reasons but the two most important are that he lost the popular vote by a whopping three million votes but even more outrageous is the known fact that Russia helped him win the election. Now Trump has scheduled his first trip abroad and guess where he’s going? Well, he will be meeting with Putin. Here’s what the British paper, the Sunday Times reported:
“Donald Trump is planning to hold a summit with Vladimir Putin within weeks of becoming president — emulating Ronald Reagan’s Cold War deal-making in Reykjavik with Mikhail Gorbachev. Trump and his team have told British officials that their first foreign trip will be a meeting with the Russian leader, with the Icelandic capital in pole position to host the superpower talks as it did three decades ago.”
Trump’s apparent affinity for Russia has raised concerns on the part of intelligence agencies after a CIA report recently concluded that Russia tried to sway the presidential elections in Trump’s favor. Although the evidence is overwhelming, Trump until very recently denied that Russia was involved in the hacking and even went as far as attacking intelligence agencies that he will be the boss over shorty. In addition, a recent CNN report detailing an intelligence briefing to both President Obama and Trump that Russia had dirt on the soon to be president, has raised further concerns that Trump may be compromised.
In lieu of all this, Trump is meeting with Putin and you can bet that American security officials will be watching closely.
