With the election of Donald Trump, albeit only with the Electoral College, it has left many in a state of disbelief and mourning.

That feeling was definitely present at the White House Wednesday when the White House staffers were caught looking very, very despondent. Some even crying.

Here are some of the heartbreaking images via Twitter:

While some were saying that the images were taken during Trump’s initial visit to the White House, it was clarified that the images were of the Trump presidency announcement on Wednesday from President Obama, but it captures the sentiment nonetheless.

It can be said that over half the nation is still in a state of utter shock and disbelief in what just happened. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, yet still had to concede to Trump.

Hate, bigotry and fear just triumphed over acceptance, hope and progress, and did so without the popular vote. It’s frustrating, to say the least, heartbreakingly sad to be honest.

However, we must not lose all hope. We must stand strong and continue to unite against racism, Islamophobia, homophobia, misogyny and fear. We are still stronger together, and we need to use this as motivation to get out and put together progressive candidates who will win come midterms.

There is still hope. There is always hope.
