A new initiative has just been launched in the effort to defeat Donald Trump and it’s pretty damn brilliant.
Considering the fact that chefs tend to vote Democrat, it should come as no surprise that several high-profile celebrity chefs are making it their personal business to support Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with the hashtag #ChefsForHillary. These big-name chefs include Mario Batali, Dominique Ansel, and Leah Cohen, who have all contributed recipes on Pinterest that will only seek to further the Democratic ticket.
For the Chefs For Hillary social media campaign, these chefs are sharing their recipes, hoping to encourage Clinton supporters to cook at home and use the recipes for campaign-related parties and fundraisers. Some of the chefs’ recipes have even been give Democrat-themed names such as Ansel’s “Democratic Blue(berry) Cookies” and Katie Lee’s “Patriotic Penne Pie”. All laid out on a Pinterest board, the campaign is also encouraging people to upload their own recipes and creations using the #ChefsForHillary tag.
Batali, one of the chefs participating in the campaign, said:
“I have been a huge fan of Hillary Clinton’s since I first met her in 1991 and she is without a doubt the most qualified candidate for president I have ever had the chance to vote for.”
Judging by her statement, Clinton also seemed pretty psyched about it:
“In all my travels throughout America and around the globe, some of my fondest memories have been formed over a meal — or a really good drink. And a great recipe lets you relive those experiences over and over. That’s why I’m thrilled to have the support of these incredibly talented chefs. The recipes they’ve created will bring our volunteers and supporters together at house parties and phone banks across the country, and I hope they’ll be inspired to make them for years to come.”
Chefs have really stepped it up for the former Secretary of State. Let’s not forget that just a few weeks ago, an award-winning chef banned Donald Trump from his restaurant!
