In a bombshell report, the RNC is considering a replacement in the wake of the latest controversies surrounding Republican nominee Donald Trump. The move comes after Trump heavily criticized the parents of late Capt. Humayun Khan in many speeches. Khan, a naturalized citizen and a Muslim, died in 2004 during combat operations in Iraq. Here’s what ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl just reported.
“I am told senior officials at the party are actively exploring what would happen if Trump dropped out, how to replace him on the ballot. The answer is they can’t force him out. He would have to go out voluntarily then it would be the 168 members of the RNC through a complicated process that would pick a new candidate. It would have to happen by early September.”
The possibility of Trump dropping out is real as members of his campaign are jumping ship after his unrelenting pummeling of the Gold Star family. Karl continued:
“This is absolutely unprecedented. I am told that RNC chairman Reince Priebus is furious — he has had multiple discussions with Trump telling him he needs to drastically change course.”
Veterans groups like the American Legion, the VFW, and the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), have gone after Trump, enraged that he’s treated the family of the dead soldier in such a nasty manner. In a released statement, the VFW said:
“Election year or not, the VFW will not tolerate anyone berating a Gold Star family member for exercising his or her right of speech or expression.”
While many Republicans have rebuked Trump even prior to his attacks on the Gold Star family, MSNBC’s Morning Joe reported that top officials throughout Trump’s campaign are “checking out,” leaving the Republican nominee and compromising his campaign run.
Throughout his campaign, Trump has been consistent in losing everyone and he may be the product of his own demise.
