Gingrich Wants To ‘Test’ Every Muslim In U.S. — Deport All Who Believe In Sharia Law (VIDEO)

Politics, Racism, Religion

On Thursday, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called on the U.S. to impose a religious test on every person with a Muslim background to determine whether or not they support Sharia Law and deport those who fail the test.

Following the terror attack in Nice, France, Gingrich made this statement on Fox News to Sean Hannity:

“Let me be as blunt and direct as I can be. Western civilization is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported,” Gingrich said in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “Sharia is incompatible with Western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door.”

Hannity, who was clearly intrigued by this idea, wanted to find out more.

“How do we ascertain — how do you possibly ascertain whether or not that person really wants assimilation, really wants a new life, or whether or not they want to expand that caliphate, which is what we’re at war against?” Hannity asked Thursday.

Gingrich proceeded to dig his hole even deeper by going into explicit detail.

“The first step is you have to ask them the questions,” Gingrich responded. “The second step is you have to monitor what they’re doing on the Internet. The third step is, let me be very clear, you have to monitor the mosques. I mean, if you’re not prepared to monitor the mosques, this whole thing is a joke. Where do you think the primary source of recruitment is? Where do you think the primary place of indoctrination is? You’ve got to look at the madrassas — if you’re a school which is teaching Sharia, you want to expel it from the country.”

The former Speaker also scoffed at the notion that Islam was a “religion of peace,” calling the notion “bologna.”

“It’s not that Islamists are necessarily evil, but they’re not necessarily a religion of peace,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich then aimed his fire at President Obama and Democrats, by citing their argument for more strict gun regulations following the Orlando terror attack, which has been the largest mass shooting in U.S. history, killing 49 people.

“I fully expect by tomorrow morning that President Obama will have rediscovered his left-wing roots and will give a press conference in which he’ll explain that the problem is too many trucks,” Gingrich said. “If only we had truck regulation, then we wouldn’t have problems like Nice because it is trucks that are dangerous. I mean that’s the exact analog to Orlando and just tells you how nuts the left wing in America is.”

Following the immediate fallout, Gingrich took to Twitter to defend his remarks and condemn the media.

“Amazing distortions of my interview on Hannity last night. I will do a lengthy Facebook live later this morning n the issue of sharia,” Gingirch tweeted. “We clearly need three patterns dealing with Islamist terrorism: for people seeking to get into America, those with green cards, for citizens.”

Gingrich’s comments fall in line with Trump’s call for surveilling Muslim communities within the U.S., setting up a Muslim database, and banning Muslims or people from certain Muslim countries from entering the U.S.

His statements also come at a time when Trump is set to announce his vice presidential pick heading into the Republican National Convention on July 18th. Gingrich is said to be one of three contenders vying for the position, the others being Indiana Governor Mike Pence and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

On CNN’s New Day, Trump’s campaign manager Paul Manafort was asked to comment on Gingrich’s remarks, but he played dumb, stating that he didn’t know about Gingrich’s comments or what the “context” was.

“The point is the country’s got serious problems dealing with terrorism,” Manafort said.

It seems that Gingrich is angling either for the vice presidency or a high-level position in the Trump administration. If this were someone like Texas Senator Ted Cruz or some other idiotic ideologue, these comments wouldn’t be that surprising.

But make no mistake; Gingrich is a very intelligent person. He’s not a religious nutjob or ignorant nationalist, and that’s why his remarks are more dangerous. Gingrich is the very lowest form of political scum. He is a pure opportunist who holds no real American values.

I don't believe in American exceptionalism, but I do believe America can only be an exceptional place as long as we can be brutally honest about its strengths and weaknesses.
